This would have made more sense to me:
"Reading poetry really inspires me not to read poetry." OR
"I find reading poetry really inspiring; as it inspires me not to read poetry".
And for all those who find this offensive, it is not something to be taken seriously. I love poetry but I also appreciate someone who is expressing himself (Its not out rightly offensive anyway) . And "creative" self expression gets extra points.
One does not simply write these things...
People who don't like a certain style of literature generally don't like reading it, and trying to read it only would make them dislike it more. How is that offensive?
Also, imagine it sai *insert your favorite type of art here* instead of poetry. I wouldn't laugh.
And how is it dumb?
I can imagine any form of art inserted here and it would be funny. Yeah, it probably wouldn't be as funny, but it's an opinion. Someone will always disagree with you and someone will always be stupid, but pointing out any certain uninteresting instance is more or less petty and needless.
