Love the quote! I giggled at it.
Also, to all the butthurt people; it isn't serious. I would call it an ironic and hilarious summary of a stereotype, but that's just me. There are a lot of good African Americans, but in some places, the bad outweighs the good.
And on a totally random side note: Slavery happened 200 years ago, bitches. Grow up and stop shoving it into us white people's faces >:l it wasn't us modern day people's fault.

But didn't white people forcibly bring black people over to America?

So...wouldn't that make white people just as responsible for crime as black people...in fact...more so?

Race Jokes! I love em!

Yes but it started with Africans selling their own people to Americans. Then whites took advantage of that and started paying people to kidnap more Africans to put into slavery.

Then again as history is all a bunch of he said/she said bullshit who knows what really happened. Honestly I think both parties are responsible.

-This was written in a light nature so don't be mad at me!- ^.^

But didn't the white people come over to Africa to make black people into slaves because they were too lazy to work the fields of lands that they forcibly took away from the original americans (native american tribes)?

Though it is true, "History is written by the victor and history is filled with liars." While there are accounts of african tribes selling their own people or working alongside european slavers for their own profit, the resultant atrocities should still weigh heavily on the group of people who wanted to make someone else work their fields without paying them.

- Nothing personal, just want to make sure that people know the truth. -

People cannot know the truth because there is never a truth. It is a perception of someone's own thoughts and actions.

It is like "which came first; the chicken or the egg?" Plenty of opinions and never a conclusion. :)

Europeans needed a labour force that was able to work in the harsher conditions in and around the Caribbean. They decided on Africans because of several reasons. 1) It was convenient for them to just stop by on their way from Europe and continue on to the Americas (the trans-Atlantic Slave Trade) 2)Africans were used to working in the fields since they did agricultural tasks in their country. 3)Due to their dark skin, they were able to take the harsh sunlight and exposure to excessive heat much better than their European counterparts would have. 4) Since they lived in the same climatic zone etc. they were okay with the climate as well as most of the diseases or illnesses that the Europeans simply couldn't handle. When other higher up Africans realized that their people were captured and made into slaves, they decided to make a profit off of it. They kidnapped their own people and rounded them up for profit. It backfired on several occassions though when the dealers themselves were kidnapped for slavery.

Technically, the Europeans weren't all white. You had Hispanics as well. And after seeing the slave system in the Caribbean, the Americans started their own slave system which was noticeably milder than any other slave system.

But with all this information it's still a matter of opinion on who is to be blamed for what. This was done at 5AM because I was really really really bored and couldn't sleep. xD

You mean the Hispanics who were under Spanish control?

"And after seeing the slave system in the Caribbean, the Americans started their own slave system which was noticeably milder than any other slave system."

...Really? So...the destruction of a culture, separation of families, degradation and sell of human beings based on their skin color, and everything that resulted from that system...was mild?

With that...you've lost all credibility my friend. Try actually researching the actual conditions of slavery before you say something as insultingly stupid as, "The American slavery system was comparatively mild to other systems."

Insultingly stupid?

I said noticeably MILDER. You're the one reading the information and choosing not to understand it. Why? Are you getting defensive because you think you're the only one that knows about this topic? The americans weren't the only country using slaves in the area genius. Each country had a slave code or a set of slave laws.

You could've used a better word choice than mild.

Slavery is never mild, no matter who is doing it and I never said that Americans were the only people who used slavery.

It's nothing against you, I just hate it when people try to put down American slavery as something that wasn't "as big of a deal."

Maybe it wasn't as bad as other past or current slavery systems, but that's like saying that being shot and having your body buried in a ditch is better than being hung and shot in the crouch while suffocating to death. One method of death is less painful, but the person getting killed is still getting killed in both cases so what difference does it make?

I also don't like that you explain away the reasons that led to the middle-passage like you were trying to justify the destruction of a culture and other negative effects that are still felt by the descendants of those slaves in the present day. Who cares if the Europeans needed labor? Who cares if Africans can handle hotter temperatures better? It was still wrong. Even if other africans sold other africans, it doesn't make the europeans any less guilty of the blood that was on their hands or the stains on their souls.

Maybe I came across a little too strongly and I take back my words about you not having any credibility. But don't try to explain away atrocity by saying that it wasn't as bad...it was still bad.

I have lost any small amount of respect I may or may not have had for you...It definitely sounds like you have something against me.

The definition of the word MILDER: Not as severe or extreme.
I'm using milder since you know, I don't plan on using 3 or 4 words to explain what one could do just as well. I'm not saying slavery wasn't horrible but you shouldn't go as far to insult someone just because you're overly passionate about something. It's childish.

And I believe that because of your amazing passion for the African slaves, you also accused me of explaining away the reasons for the trans-Atlantic slave trade. I was giving a more or less accurate account of what happened and the reasons why. Understand that? The reasons WHY they were used as slaves. I understand that it was wrong but no one told you to assume that was my aim in typing my comment up. ALSO, the African culture has NOT been destroyed. They brought most of their customs with them to the various islands and areas (well, almost all the areas excluding the slaves brought to the U.S.)

And i'm a descendant of the slaves. Well, partially anyways. I've heard the stories that have been passed down through generations. Instead of 'feeling the negative effects' I feel grateful to my ancestors for fighting for their freedom and allowing me to grow up normally. xD And I won't have you reprimanding me for something that I didn't do.

"But don't try to explain away atrocity by saying that it wasn't as bad...it was still bad." Yeah, it was really fucking bad but i'm standing by what I said. If you want to have a cow over nothing then go right ahead. Just please don't reply to me with accusations that would just waste my time.
