3.) Even if they are racist, sexist, etc. there is no offense intended; They are made strictly with entertaining purposes;
4.) I don't own any (copyrights), so you can use them however you want them;
5.) Possibly there are some grammar mistakes and it would be much appreciated, if you notice them, to let me know, so I can fix them asap;

So if I don't need a wife? I'm not a man? At least your other post tried to be funny, but this is promoting rather archaic ideas.

The quote never mentions anyone needing anything to be anything... Should != need.

You mentioned 'what if you do not want a wife, am I not a man?'. You could, as you seemed to, take the quote seriously, and assume it means a man must be a woman. My statement about being a lesbian was to indicate that I do not want a husband, and yet I do not take offense to the quote. Laugh it off and move on. It is fine to realize you overreacted, but by your reply, you still need to chill.

I don't think it's saying that you're not a man if you don't have a wife. It's saying that people shouldn't cheat on each other.

I think this is a great quotation. So does my wife!

I am amazed at how many people have made stupid, meaningless comments about this simple quotation,
but then ...
it never ceases to amaze me that people can be so ignorant and so stupid about so many things in life.

If this quotation offends you, get a life and get over it!
If this comment offends you, I'm sorry, but I get really tired of reading negative comments on so many things I see on dA.

I made a Critical comment about Negative comments!
Real critical comments don't bother anyone, but the constant posting of negative comments offends a lot of people.

I'm never going to have a wife, but I'll be a great man and maybe I'll have a husband. I also hate when people label comments as negative because it descends from their own opinion. And I'm not offended, being offended is for puritans. I'm just trying to introduce some different perspectives.

I think the image is promoting loyalty and monogamy; not heterosexuality. And I think that fundamental misunderstanding with this image makes it seem far more controversial than it is.

It's important to recognize that homosexuality isn't mentioned here not because the artist/ quoter disagrees with homosexuality but because the topic of homosexuality is a different topic altogether.

Hah! It's all good man. As a game designer, I've embarrassed myself a lot recently in my attempts to defend the video game medium from the attacks it's receiving as a result of real world violence. We all get passionate and sometimes over heated, but I appreciate your ability to be civil.

Um?? How exactly? Homosexuality is a natural thing that has been around since ancient civilizations, and is demonstrated in over 500 species of animals.

How so? I stated that homosexuality is a natural thing, which it clearly is. I was incorrect about the animals, according to my sources it is actually over 1,500 species, not 500. I do not know the exact details of homosexuality in ancient times, I know some cultures practiced forms of it.

Are you saying I'm unnatural because I'm pansexual? :P
Reply
:iconeckis:
Eckis Featured By Owner Jan 24, 2013
It isn't a natural thing.

No, the animal thing is a poorly backed theory often cited by LGBTQRSTUV activists. The subtlest hint of a same sex bond between >.01% of the species adds it to the list. (and by hint, I mean two male dogs laying together makes them instruments of gae ritz.) Also: humans have sinned since they were created. Homosexuality detailed in ancient times does not make it natural -- the Greeks are notorious for this.

No, I'm saying that --sexuality is a creation of humans. And I don't believe any deviant lifestyle is "natural."

But why exactly is it a "deviant lifestyle" if it works just the same way? Love is love, hon, the only difference is that gays don't make babies. Animals which are in a habitat that supports them enough that breeding is not their main objective, they can choose who to be their mate. In this day and age, there isn't a strong NEED for babies. Why do you consider it a sin?

If you abide by the theory of sexuality being a social construction, then the argument is irrelevant as we can observe the problems of semantics into sexualities and the wide different perception in respect to sexual attraction, sexual orientation, what emotions counts, durability assumption, immutability assumption, etc...

However, the social construction theory fails to take into account that it is already observed the genes and environment do have a impact on one's sexuality, thus there may be some common similar origins. However, the other viewpoints fails to take into the complications of the semantics into sexuality debate.

I didn't say "sexuality," I said "gay marriage." Sorry, but that literally was not a popular idea back then, and if it was, you'd probably be hard pressed to find someone who was actively promoting it. I'm not stupid.

"This quote probably originated long before the idea of gay marriage even crossed people's minds."

With this quote you made it sound as if gay people didn't even consider the concept of getting married or wanting to get married back then. My apologies for misunderstanding.

Why does everything have to be some sort of political implication? This is just a quote. The person who said it probably didn't think "which group of people am I offending by leaving them out?"

“Every man should have a life partner. Preferably his own.”
Doesn't sound right in my opinion.

Look, I'm not trying to start a fight; and I'm well aware that whoever made the quote, didn't mean for it for it to be offensive. BUT something like this can't be ignored, especially since all forms of art could be interpreted in many ways (especially something so vague.) So calm the hell down, okay?

I am calm, are you?
It CAN'T be ignored you're right-- because there is nothing to ignore here. You do know this quote is a satirical joke? It literally has nothing to do with the issue of homosexuality at all. People that try to find problems in everything drive me crazy.

The point of the quote is not that a man should have a wife because having other sexual preference is wrong.

The satire is "preferably his own" part. Meaning that a man should have a wife, but not another man's wife. It should be his own if he has one.

You could say I suppose "every man should have a [life partner].." but like I said before it just doesn't have the same zinger to it.
