Quotes #3 | Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car

Author: Billy Sunday

After a couple "off" weeks I'm back with a new Quotes. I got an order from a friend for more then a hundred new stickers with funny quotes on it. I changed the background, font and size from previous design. Since I got many complains how "this sh*t doesn't belong here on DA" I probably won't upload all of them, but I will post a link where you can see them...

New collection:
DA: [link]
...more links and quotes will be added soon...

The old "finished" collection
DA: [link]
Facebook: [link]

About the quotes:
1.) I don't own any of the quotes in my collection (unless it's stated otherwise);
2.) Credit is given if the ORIGINAL author of the quote is known;
3.) Even if they are racist, sexist, etc. there is no offense intended; They are made strictly with entertaining purposes;
4.) I don't own any (copyrights), so you can use them however you want them;
5.) Possibly there are some grammar mistakes and it would be much appreciated, if you notice them, to let me know, so I can fix them asap;

Thay's the reason why I left my church, cause it was full of hypocrites. I could barely stand to be around such shamless pretenders.

You, being such a bitter self-proclaimed "realist", have no idea what you are missing not having religion/church in your life. The community, the morality makes you a better person and you live a better life for it.
If you disagree with this, maybe you should take a second look at who is actually the shameless pretender here.

I'll concede that not all churches are like that but my old one was.
At my old church the only feeling one gets there is the urgent desire to LEAVE. Unless you've been there you don't know what you're talking about.
Most of the adult there were olny christians on sunday mornings and thier kids only came to youth because they were made to.
Would you want to stay at a church like that?

No one should be forced to go to church. It makes them hates it and not understand it that much more. I too was "obligated" to go to church, dropped out, and then found my way back in. I guess that's
just how it has to be done. Never stopped being a Christian and I am sure you never stopped either since we are having this conversation.

So true.
The school I come from consist of pretty much 95% ateists (its sweden after all). However, we always went to church to end the schoolyear and celebrate the start of summer-vacation. The priest would always tell us some kind of story from the bible (the second most boring part of the whole ceremony. The most boring was the prinicpal's speeches) and we sang song of all kinds. But I'm still an ateist. For me, chrisitianity is more part of sweden's culture and history, most noticably seen in our holidays. So I see no reason not to enjoy what good a religion can bring, even If I don't believe or partake in any religious activities.

This quote is true, but God does call us to "remember the Sabbath Day and keep it holy". Church is pretty important if God put it in one of the Ten Commandments. I think that Mr. Sunday was just trying to say that a relationship with God is what saves you, not your church attendance record or how good and religious you are.

ah but the Ten Commandments were made for the Hebrews ONLY. a Christian has 2 commandments that are OPEN TO APPLICATION: Love God, love humanity. I've even been told that if you focus on the second commandment, you inadvertently obey the first one.

really as Christians, we are to only apply the red text to heart, and everything else is meant to give an understanding of what GOD is like.

Well, I agree that the red text, the words of Jesus, are to be taken seriously...but, since the entire Bible is God's Word, and since the Bible is the Truth, we need to read it all. Even the begats and begots...at extensive as they can be XD Christians need to follow the Old Testament as much as the New, because it does nothing but point to the coming Messiah found in Jesus Christ. The Ten Commandments are absolutely important, because Jesus Himself quoted them in His messages to witness to the Jews and show them how God fulfilled His promises in His Son sent to earth. I'm not trying to start a Bible flame war, but I need to stress the importance of knowing the truth.

This is total philosophy to live on. I knew this already, but this actually brings it to the public. I always used to say that "If Gods everywhere then you going to church and watching the minster on Sunday for God is like me staying at home and watching TV for God." The only difference is that while you have to go and look nice to a bunch of random people i can sit on my couch butt-naked for all i care and I'd feel like I'm actually more into it then them because the first people alive were naked.

This is myy favorite for those people who constantly tell my parents there not christian because they don't go to church. I said this to the pastor, not out of disrespect, just because you can believe in your religion without being in the one spot that everyone said God is on a Sunday, isn't God everywhere though? It made him laugh and it gave him something to think about.

The Bible says that "we will know them by their fruits". The idea of a house of worship came from the emperor Constantine around 250 - 350 AD. As a devout follower of Christ and His teachings I know one thing for sure, Christianity as a whole feeds more people worldwide than any other group. All thanks to God and His use of people to do His will will regardless of their intent.
